About

What is Sentence case?

Sentence case capitalises only the first letter of the first word in each sentence, leaving all other words in lowercase (except proper nouns, which you would capitalise manually). It mirrors the way standard written English prose is formatted and is the most natural-reading case style for paragraphs, descriptions, and form labels.

Example

Input

the weather is nice today. what are your plans? let's go outside!

Output

The weather is nice today. What are your plans? Let's go outside!

Usage

When to use Sentence case?

Body copy & paragraphs

The default for all natural prose - articles, blog posts, emails, and documentation all use Sentence case as their baseline.

Form labels & placeholders

UI guidelines from Google Material, Apple HIG, and most design systems recommend Sentence case for form fields and helper text.

Fixing ALL CAPS text

Quickly normalise pasted text that was typed or exported in all-caps - restores readability in one click.

Subtitles & captions

Image captions, video subtitles, and chart labels conventionally use Sentence case to keep them feeling lightweight and unobtrusive.
